Perinatal Chiropractic

The perinatal period is unlike any other time in a woman’s life. Her physiology changes entirely for a year of her life, and then returns to its normal function. From conception to delivery though the postpartum period, chiropractic care can support women through these monumental life changes.

  • The health of a baby begins with the health of its parents. Epigenetics have shown that sperm and eggs are affected by the physiological state of the parents during and even prior to conception. Chiropractic care help shift the nervous system to a parasympathetic state (that is the opposite of “fight or flight”) and ensure that the reproductive organs are communicating effectively with the brain.

  • Pregnancy is a beautiful time of life, but it is not always comfortable or enjoyable for mom. The Webster technique was specifically developed to safely align the mother’s pelvis to make the most space for the baby within. Mothers who are under regular chiropractic care throughout their pregnancy experience shorter labor duration, fewer interventions, and overall better outcomes than their non-chiropractic peers.

  • Following delivery, much attention is focused on the new baby, but postpartum moms require a lot of time and attention in this season, and chiropractic care can help with both the physical and emotional struggles these moms face.

Loss Recovery

Unfortunately loss is a part of life, and the loss of a pregnancy and child is difficult regardless of gestational age. In addition to normal mourning, the mother’s body must adjust to the hormonal shifts of post-pregnancy and allow her body to heal. Chiropractic care during this time helps regulate the nervous system and provide the healing power of physical touch and connection.
